Uncle Ken Jones

NAIDOC Male Elder & Proud Boandik Elder

Hello, I'm Ken Jones, a NAIDOC Male Elder and proud member of the Boandik Community, Pangula Mannamurna. My passion lies in sharing my adventures with like-minded individuals, witnessing the joy that comes from learning and discovering new experiences while forging a deeper Connection to Country.

Sharing the beauty of our Boandik Country with visitors brings me immense joy, and my love for the Great Southern Ocean continually drives me to explore and savour its salty delights. Through my tours, I aim to encourage others to take the time to appreciate the intricate wonders of nature.

We have been coming to Mount Gambier frequently for over a decade and have had many great experiences but none compared to our tour with Uncle Ken. We heard stories about origin of country and his heritage. His knowledge of flora and fauna was mind-blowing. We loved sampling the bush tucker and learning about sustainability. Our primary school aged children were fascinated throughout and didn't want the tour to end. We are planning to come back in the summer to taste the natural offerings of a different season and experience the peace and mindfulness again. The breadth of Uncle Ken's contribution to the community is profound and spans multiple facets, which was evident when talking to the townfolk, all of whom seemed to know him. We are still talking about the many things we learnt on our tour with Uncle Ken, which will stay with us forever. Wulanda!
